The mission of the Blackpowder guild is to promote the use of
muzzleloading blackpowder guns for target and hunting. There is a
number of activities designed to appeal to a number of interests,:
including gun building, making of accoutrements, period clothing, target
shooting every Wednesday at the club range (muzzleloaders only),
participation in national rendezvous, skirmish and period encampments at
the Apple Festival, Youth instruction in black powder shooting and
primitive archery, and finally, support and instruction for new
muzzleloading shooters of all ages.
The guild sponsors a blackpowder shooting league every Wed. from May
through Sept. from 6:00 pm until dark. Informal shooting and learning
about Blackpowder guns welcomed, as well as scored target shooting. The
Blackpowder Guild also facilitated the Northeastern Primitive Rendezvous
held every two years at Newark Valley.
