Newark Valley Historical Society

P.O. Box 222, Newark Valley, NY 13811 (607) 642-9516  info@nvhistory.org

The Newark Valley Historical Society preserves and interprets the past of Newark Valley, New York and Northern Tioga County.  At the Bement-Billings Farmstead, experience the sights, sounds and scents of the 19th century: the blacksmith’s hammer ringing on hot iron, cabbage soup simmering over an open fire, the wheel whirring gently under the skillful hand of a master spinner.

Go back to a time long past at the Railroad Depot, where the rail museum tells the story of commerce and transportation.  Meet “mountain men” and Civil War soldiers during living-history reenactments at our seasonal festivals.  Study traditional crafts such as spinning and weaving, open hearth cooking, blacksmithing and black powder shooting with our guilds.  The Society has something to offer everyone.

Participate in history:  become a member, join a craft guild, or become a living history interpreter.   The Newark Valley Historical Society awaits your arrival.
